Saving Lives Through Education

Preventing deaths among teen drivers and young adult drivers is the mission of Alive at 25.  Recent studies suggest teen driving accidents account for up to 44% of all teen deaths, making it the leading cause of teenage deaths in the United States. This is a startling statistic considering how many new teenage drivers take to the roads each year.  With new drivers, there are new lessons and, unfortunately, new accidents.

Driving, like any other skill is something we typically get better at over time – with practice.  If this weren't the case, 16 year-olds wouldn't have higher accident rates than drivers of any other age.  When you factor in additional distractions such as cell phones and other inexperienced passengers – practicing safe, defensive driving becomes that much more difficult.

Another factor in teenage driving accidents is the influence of drugs and alcohol. According to one survey of teen drivers in 2005, nearly half of the teens believed most teen driving accidents were the result of drinking and driving.  Considering the source of this data this should be eye opening for adults.

Teaching teens and young adults to drive safely is very important.  Aliveat 25 takes pride in accomplishing this. Most driving accidents are preventable, meaning deaths relating to teen driving accidents are preventable.  Teen driving accidents do not have to be the leading cause of death in the US. Alive at 25 contributes to this cause by saving lives through education.
